東京に住んで１年になるフランス人の方から市民参加型のコンポスト活動についてご提案がありましたので、ご紹介させてください。

フランスから引っ越してきた私にとって、ここ東京での生活は本当に楽しいです。
フランスでは、都市部でコンポストを作ることができ、家庭ゴミの量をかなり減らすことができます。コンポストによって、私たちはエネルギーを節約し、植物（庭や農業用）のための天然肥料を生産することができます。また、バイオガスを製造して、新しいエネルギーを作ることもできます。コンポストを作ることは、廃棄物管理の重要性を認識し、廃棄物の抑制につながるため、子供だけでなく大人にとっても非常に重要な学びになると考えます。これは、人間が地球に与える影響を減らすという課題を考える、とてもいい機会になると思うのです。
このプロジェクトの背景には、まず市民が生ゴミ（主に果物や野菜の皮）やその他の有機廃棄物（主に草、葉、土、小さな木の枝）を捨てていることがあります。また、オフィスやレストラン、卸売、食堂、ケータリング、小売店なども同様に有機廃棄物を出していることが考えられます。
私の知る限り、東京には少なくとも市民を対象としたコンポスト（堆肥）のシステムがありません。そこで、東京でコンポストを発展させるためのプロジェクトの実施を提案したいと思い、今回の応募に至りました。
東京の規模（人口約1,300万人）を簡単に推計しただけでも、一人当たり一日平均100gの家庭用生ゴミ（これは確かに現実より少ない）を考えると、一日当たり約1300トンの堆肥化製品があることになる。これはすごい規模だと考えます。
このようなプロジェクトを展開するためには以下のような団体のサポートがあるといいと思います。

Living in Tokyo is really enjoyable! I come from France where it is possible to make composting in cities to considerably decrease the quantity of household waste to be eliminated. By composting, we save energy, we produce natural fertilizer for plants (for gardens and for agriculture). It is also possible to produce biogas to make new energy. Making composting is a very good strategy to educate kids and adults because it helps to raise awareness of the importance of waste management, and upstream, to limit waste production. This is very important given the challenges we face in reducing man’s impact on the planet.
Behind this project, we can think of citizens first, throwing away kitchen wastes (mainly fruit and vegetable peelings) and other organic wastes (mainly grass, leaves, soil and small tree branches), but we can also think of offices, restaurants, wholesale, canteens, caterers and retail premises, also producing bio-wastes.
As far as I have understood, there is no system of composting, at least for citizens, in Tokyo. Hence the idea is to propose the implementation of a project to develop composting in Tokyo.
Just a very quick reasoning on the scale of Tokyo (about 13 million of residents): if we just consider the average number of 100g of household bio-waste per day per capita (which is certainly below the reality), this gives a quantity of about 1300 tons per day of compostable products. Impressive…
